BREAKING AND ENTERING

On March 1 around 5:20 p.m., Officer Derrick Palazzo along with numerous members of the police department responded to a Simmonsville Avenue address in reference to a disturbance in progress possibly involving a firearm.

Upon arrival the officers detained several men. They also spoke with the complainant, who stated that while he was in his residence two men entered his residence without permission through an unlocked door. According to the police report, the suspects were at the victim’s home in regards to a possible stolen refrigerator.

The victim stated that the two men, identified as Adam Gallucci, 21, of 69 Marion Avenue in Cranston and Herwin Hardguittini, 31, of 81 Waverly Street in Providence, began to assault him and punch him in the head. During the attack, Gallucci allegedly placed his hand under his sweatshirt and said he had a gun.

The pair then began forcing the man outside, where another male party, later identified as Juanito Sterling, 58, of 13 Frederick Street in Providence, who the victim believed was serving as a lookout. During the assault, the victim attempted to call 911, however Hardguittini knocked the phone from his hands. He told officers that he wished to pursue a criminal complaint for the assault and unauthorized entry into his home. A witness to the incident also corroborated the victim’s account of events.

At the scene Officer Palazzo began to speak with one of the males, who provided a name of Aaron Gullucci. However, after being placed under arrest, transported to police headquarters and processed, it was later determined that his actual name was Adam Gallucci, 21, of 69 Marion Avenue in Cranston. Background checks on Gallucci revealed an active warrant for his arrest from the Pawtucket Police Department. Gallucci was charged with breaking and entering, conspiracy to commit breaking and entering, simple assault and battery, disorderly conduct, and obstructing a police officer.

Gallucci was later arraigned before Justice of the Peace McCaffrey. Bail was set at $10,000 personal recognizance. Gallucci was later turned over to the Pawtucket Police Department.

Hardguittini was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters where he was charged with breaking and entering, conspiracy to commit breaking and entering, simple assault and battery and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned before Justice of the Peace McCaffrey with surety bail set at $2,500.

Sterling was also arrested and charged with one count of conspiracy to commit breaking and entering and one count of disorderly conduct. He was arraigned before Justice of the Peace McCaffrey with bail set at $2,000 personal recognizance.

OBSTRUCTION

While patrolling the parking lot of the Putnam Avenue Walgreens on June 5, 2017 around 1:48 p.m., Lieutenant Joseph Salvadore observed a male and female with several bags an personal belongings in front of the store’s entrance obstructing people from entering. He stopped and spoke with both people.

Lieutenant Salvadore asked the man several times for identification, however he turned away as if he did not hear the officer. The man started to walk away and then began to run towards the wooded area behind Walgreens. The officer commanded the man to stop, however the suspect disregarded the orders. Patrol units then searched the area for the suspect, later identified as Christian Vargas, 25, of 42 Rand Street in Central Falls.

Background checks confirmed that Vargas had three outstanding Sixth District Court bench warrants for his arrest. When Vargas was not found, an arrest warrant was then prepared by the Johnston Police Department.

On February 26, Johnston officers responded to the Sixth District Court in reference to picking up Vargas on the active warrant for obstructing a police officer, to transport him to the Third District Court for arraignment. Upon arrival the officers were advised that Vargas had not been arraigned yet, and that he would be remanded to the ACI Intake as he was also the subject of a Superior Court Warrant.
