Police close Boyd's Lane as Portsmouth standoff continues

Update: Standoff ends peacefully around 6:30 a.m. Monday. Man is taken into custody on firearms charges. More details to follow.

PORTSMOUTH — Boyd's Lane in Portsmouth remains closed this morning as police deal with some sort of standoff.

The road, from Anthony Road to the Mount Hope Bridge, has been closed since around 9 p.m. Sunday, and police — both Portsmouth and RI State Police — are diverting traffic around the location.

Much of the activity appears to be taking place on the end of Boyd’s Lane near the Mount Hope Bridge.
