Barrington holds on to beats Mt. Hope, 20-14, in a Thanksgiving Day overtime thriller at Victory Field on Thursday morning.

Running back Sam Read gave Barrington a 7-0 lead in the first quarter, which stood up, until Mt. Hope blocked a punt with 30 seconds left and recovered it inside the Eagles 10 yard line. Two plays later, Matt DeFelice threw a touchdown pass to receiver Caedin Pacheco and Matt DaCosta kicked a wobbly extra point through the uprights to tie the game with 7 seconds to play.

In overtime, each team gets the ball at the 10 yard line and has a chance to score.

The Huskies drew blood first on a run by Dylan Martins and Zach DaCosta extra point to give Mt. Hope a 14-7 lead.

The Huskies defense seemed to have Barrington on the ropes when they stuffed quarterback Liam McManus on a keeper on fourth down. McManus was stopped, but not down. He pitched it back to running back Dante Augustine who punched it in on the left side. A Chase White kick tied the score, 14-14.

In the second overtime, McManus and the Eagles struck first. The quarterback scored on a quarterback keeper, but White missed the extra point opening the door for the Mt. Hope if they could score.

But the Eagles defense held them, as the Huskies could only get down to the three yard line on fourth down, thus ending one of the more thrilling games between the two teams.
