Mt. Hope junior Meghan Oliver won two events during the Huskies first indoor track dual meet against East Providence and Rogers at the Providence Career and Technical Academy last week. Oliver won the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 9.1 seconds and also won the long jump with a leap of 16 feet 4 inches.

“Meghan is a beast,” said track coach Kendra Kopecky-Bowden. “She learned long jump during the outdoor season last spring and won a bronze medal at the state track meet as a sophomore.  She is an all around athlete and can do anything.”

Oliver also excels in gymnastics and has led the Huskies gymnastics team to two state titles over the last two years.

Despite losing the duel meet, 89-22 to East Providence and 77-24 to Rogers, the indoor track team is learning the basics and getting stronger every day according to coach Kendra.

Kelsey Dias placed second in the 55 meter run and teammate Kiley Bouchard placed third. Their three freshman Ella Drawbridge in 600 meter run and long jump, Kiley Bouchard in the 55 meter run and 300 meter run and Zoe Fournier-Swire in the 1500 meter run are competing hard and hope to be a force for the outdoor season this spring.

Next up: The Huskies face Exeter/West Greenwich, Hope and Prout in a dual meet on Thursday at the PCTA at 5:30 p.m.
