EAST PROVIDENCE — On the heels of a report detailing its many areas of neglect and necessity, East Providence High School was toured by a group of elected officials, administrators and residents Tuesday night, March 28.

The previous evening, the school committee received an analysis of the state of EPHS from the national education architectural firm SLAM Collaborative.

The review, called for together by the school district and the municipal leadership, highlighted a wide range of problems with the 65-year-old edifice, including its need for significant repair to its electrical and heating systems.

Tuesday's tour was part of a combined effort by the school committee and the city council to address the building's issues. A joint sub-committee made of members of both bodies, administrators and construction professionals was seated earlier this year with the task of implementing a plan to either repair or replace the structure.

East Providence Post and eastbayri.com staff photographer Rich Dionne was on the tour Tuesday and took the accompanying gallery of pictures.
