Letter: Resident has no right to tell women what to wear

To the editor:

This is in regards to Mr. A. Sorrentino's letter regarding women in yoga pants.

First of all, the worst thing to ever happen in women's fashion was shoulder pads, we all know that. Maybe stonewash denim, too. However, I digress.

At first, I thought this was a joke. Then, I realized it was not. Then I felt a slew of emotions. How dare this guy tell women what they should be wearing and what they should not be wearing.

How dare this guy act as though he has the right to comment on women's fashion. "A nice pair of tailored slacks, jeans, or anything else would be better than those stinky yoga pants".  Ha, ha, ha, do you go around sniffing us, too, Mr. Sorrentino? I'm glad you're spending your time judging the correct age a women should be wearing certain pants.

Here's another fun quote of his, "yoga pants can be adorable on children and young women who have the benefit of nature's blessing of youth, however, on mature adult women there is something bizarre and disturbing about the appearance they make in public". Ha, ha, ha, hilarious! Disturbing! Well, I guess I found my scary Halloween costume.

It's bizarre and disturbing that you are writing such a long and detailed letter about yoga pants! I think you should do yourself a favor and stop shaming women for what they choose to wear. We come in all ages,  shapes and sizes. If you don't like it, look away.

Do you think women enjoy looking at your black hanes T-shirt under your old and worn out blazer? Maybe we do and maybe we don't, it's not my place to comment on what you wear, so stop commenting on what we wear.

I, in fact, love a nice pair of yoga pants. Whether I'm in a yoga studio or not. Also, it's just a fashion term, "yoga pants." Just like I am sure you're not "blazing" in your blazer.

This whole situation is sad. Whether the Times was looking to get more "buzz" or not, it was a dumb idea to post it. We have young girls reading this paper and what does this show?

I'll end with this other fun quote from Mr. Vogue Magazine, "Pairing yoga pants with certain tops is a disaster"?  The only disaster I see is that the Times actually published this and wasted space in a paper that we pay for!  Now, someone hand me my stinky yoga pants.
