Faith Baptist delivers over 1,000 cookies to cops

SPECIAL DELIVERY: On Tuesday, more than a dozen Faith Baptist parishioners, including children, delivered 220 bags of cookies to the Warwick Police Department.

HELPING HIS OWN CAUSE: Police Captain Michael Higgins helps put the cookies into bags during the potluck dinner event at the church Saturday night, which would later be delivered to the police department on Tuesday afternoon.

Faith Baptist Church, a Warwick-based church off of Centerville Road, delivered more than 1,000 cookies to the Warwick Police Department on Tuesday afternoon to show their “love and support,” Pastor Ed Stutz said.

The project is part of a community outreach initiative started by the Church Council and some of the parishioners reaching out to different groups around the community, including the police department. Over the past couple weeks, parishioners have been baking the 110 dozen cookies at home and the church has also baked dozens of cookies during Sunday school and bible study classes.

This past Saturday night, the church got together to decorate bags and package the cookies up, as well as have a potluck dinner attended by police Captain Michael Higgins. The parishioners also made personalized notes to give to the Officers and other personnel in the department.

On Tuesday afternoon, the project came to fruition as Faith Baptist Church delivered 220 personalized bags of cookies to the department, where Officers Joe Hopkins and Mark Jandreau welcomed them with open arms – and mouths – and said that the personalized notes that came with each bag made the gifts even more special.
