Jasper Williams dead at 24

EAST PROVIDENCE — In a statement released late Thursday evening, Dec. 15, the East Providence Police announced city resident Jasper Williams had died as a result of stab wounds suffered five nights earlier.

The release read, "Mr. Williams, 24, a resident of 64 Lyon Ave. has succumbed to his injuries. Mr. Williams was the victim of a stabbing that occurred on Saturday evening (Dec. 10), near the intersection of Lyon Avenue and Warren Avenue."

The suspect in the slaying, James Stevens, 29 of 469 Pine St., Providence, is now wanted for the Murder of Jasper Williams.

Mr. Stevens, whom police identified during a somber press conference Monday, Dec. 12, where the victim's mother, Alecia Williams, was present, remains at large.

Police believe he is operating a white, 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the RI registration of JH-259.
