Cranston Police Department Investigating Bank Robbery, Assistance From the Public Requested

Colonel Michael J. Winquist, Chief of the Cranston Police Department, announces that the Department’s Patrol and Detective divisions are actively investigating a bank robbery which occurred at approximately 12:35 pm this afternoon at the Webster Bank, located at 1215 Park Avenue, Cranston, Rhode Island.

According to bank employees, the suspect entered the bank and handed a note to a bank teller indicating she would be shot if she did not empty the cash register. The suspect is described as a white male, 25-40 years of age approximately 6’0 in height, wearing a pea coat style black hooded jacket, white scarf partially covering his face, jeans and loose fitting white gloves. After receiving the money, the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction. No bank employees or customers were injured during the robbery.

If any member of the public encounters an individual matching the suspect in the bank surveillance photographs, do not approach and call 9-1-1 as the subject should be considered armed and dangerous.
