Bristol police investigate dog-walker, caged deer and stolen mailbox

From Nov. 13 to Nov. 19, Bristol police officers made just two arrests — one for drunk driving and one for obstructing officers — but they were busy investigating numerous complaints about suspicious characters and noisy people.

Monday, Nov. 13

• Police were called to the East Bay Bike Path between Sip ’n Dip and Poppasquash Road at 11:47 a.m. for what was described as an injured chicken. The bird was taken to the Warren Animal Hospital.
• An officer was called to East Bay Laundromat on Gooding Avenue for a dispute over a washer not operating properly. The problem was resolved amicably for both parties.

Tuesday, Nov. 14

• An officer took a report of credit card fraud on Lincoln Avenue at 7:34 p.m.

Wednesday, Nov. 15

• Zachary McGaw, 32, of 107 Franklin St., third floor, was charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing an officer at 4:32 p.m. Officers were called to the residence by DCYF workers, and according to police, Mr. McGaw became physical while attempting to obstruct the officers from entering the apartment.
• Officers were called to Richmond Street for a fight between two men at 10:35 a.m.
• Officers responded to the area of Hope and Constitution streets for a report of a fight between a man and a woman at 5:12 p.m. A white van reportedly left the area before officers arrived.
• Michael D. Stanzione, 27, Warren, R.I., was charged with driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a chemical test at 10:06 p.m. on Hope Street.

Thursday, Nov. 16

• Someone called police to report an intoxicated man walking in the roadway at Franklin and Hope streets at 5:27 p.m.
• An officer dispersed people from Narrows Point on Narrows Road at 7:33 p.m.
• A resident on San Miguel Drive reported threats at 11:45 p.m.
• Friday, Nov. 17
• The animal control officer was called to St. Elizabeth Manor to assist when a wild deer became stuck in the pen with the other animals at 10:12 a.m.
• Officers responded to Bradford Street at 5:48 p.m. to intervened in a verbal argument.
• A caller from Goulart Avenue reported a suspicious man wearing all-black clothing and a baseball hat at 5:57 p.m. The responding officer found no problem; the man was walking his dog.
• A resident reported a loud house party on Cooke Street at 11:39 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 18

• A caller from Evelyn Drive said his mailbox was stolen with the mail still in it. An officer checked the surrounding area but did not find the mailbox.
• Officers responded to Beachmont Avenue for a verbal argument at 3:17 p.m. A responding patrolman said there was no issue, but they called for rescue to the scene to assist a woman.
• Someone complained of loud music from a residence on Cottage Street at 10:37 p.m.

Sunday, Nov. 19

• Officers were called to a disturbance at Gillary’s on Thames Street at 12:01 a.m.
• An officer asked residents to quiet things down at a house on Bay View Avenue at 1:25 a.m.
• Officers searched for but did not find someone who was reportedly screaming iin the area of Church and High streets at 2:49 a.m.
• A resident on Casey Drive reported damage to their lawn and vehicle overnight.
• An officer dispersed a vehicle from the town beach at 6:15 p.m.
• An officer dispersed a vehicle from Narrows Point at 8:18 p.m.
