Warren police: The chicken didn't cross the road

Monday, Jan. 9

A coyote was spotted running north on Main Street just after 9 a.m.

A Federal Street caller who had loaned a car to his brother complained that it had not been returned.

Police were called a bout a girl having a disagreement with her parents at Oyster Point.

Police were called about a man pan-handling in the Tom’s Market parking lot.

An anonymous caller from Martin Street complained that a man, who may have been intoxicated, was giving neighborhood children rides on a lawn tractor.

A caller from a car complained that a panhandler stopped his car at Miller and Main streets, becoming irate when he did not have anything to offer.

Tuesday, Jan. 10

A Frank Court resident reported harassment via Facebook.

A caller complained about a smoky smell on Homestead Avenue. The fire chief determined that it was multiple residents using wood stoves.

Why did the chicken cross Metacom Avenue? It didn’t. A caller from a business on Metacom Avenue reported that a chicken was in his parking lot; an officer arrived and reported that the chicken “did not cross the road,” and belonged in a coop on Overhill Road.

Wednesday, Jan. 11

Officials called the state DOT about a sinkhole that formed under Metacom Avenue, near Adams Lane.

The animal control officer got a call about a possibly injured turkey in Bagy Wrinkle Cove. The bird was apparently uninjured, though, and flew away when the ACO approached.

Charles W. Kiser, 54, of 3 Union St., second floor, was arrested on a Sixth Division District Court bench warrant, after police were called to his home for a disturbance.

A woman called police after she was reportedly threatened by a panhandler at Cumberland Farms on Market Street.

Thursday, Jan. 12

A Davis Street woman complained that a man against whom she’d filed a No Contact Order was outside her home.

A woman came into the police station to complain about a panhandler at Water and State streets.

Janell Marshall, 40, of 36 Third St., Apt. 314, was charged with domestic simple assault/battery and domestic disorderly conduct, after a woman came in to police headquarters to report a domestic dispute that had occurred in a car driving through town.

Tires were reported stolen from Beth Avenue.

A panhandler was reported on Market Street.

Friday, Jan. 13

A Child Street man complained that medication was missing from his residence.

A bike was reported stolen from Warren Avenue.

A coyote was spotted on Barden Lane just before 7 p.m.

A man from Homestead Avenue complained that his brother’s ex keeps showing up at the house and harassing them both.

Police received a report of a man wearing an orange coat yelling at people on Miller Street. Police caught up with the man and had a talk with him.

Saturday, Jan. 14

An Arlington Avenue woman complained that her downstairs neighbor turned off her water.

A caller from Norbert Street asked for police to come out and help with her argumentative and combative boyfriend.

Coyotes were spotted along Kathleen Drive.

Sunday, Jan. 15

A Child Street man reported the theft of two guitars, and that he saw them for sale in a consignment store.

Police were called out to Canario Drive for a domestic argument.

Rescue was called outfox a woman who fell from a horse on Birchswamp Road.

Monday, Jan. 16

A coyote was spotted at Main and Vernon streets. A caller told police the animal trotted into the South Burial Ground.

A Canario Drive woman told police that she was unable toturn off the water in her home. She called back one minute later to report that the water had “magically” turned off.

A Federal Street caller complained that a FedEx package left at his residence was missing.

Social media harassment was reported by a Frank Court resident.
