Plastic crime scene markers were placed across a section of Kirby Street on Thursday night, Feb. 2, as Barrington police investigated a shooting.

Yellow caution tape and police cruisers blocked the entrance to Kirby Street from Maple Avenue, and Barrington police detectives were spotted going in and out of a multi-family home that stands just west of Holy Angels Church.

Barrington Police Sgt. Wes McCoy spoke with members of the media at about 7:20 p.m. and said there was one victim in the shooting, a white male. He added that police did not have anyone in custody yet, but did "have some information."

Witnesses reported hearing three gunshots at about 5:30 p.m. They also reported seeing a man slumped over near the intersection of Maple Avenue and Kirby Street.

Police would not share any details about the victim or the suspect.
